Photovoltaic (PV) installations are the second largest generator of renewable power in Germany (after wind farms). According to the master market-related data register (Markstammdatenregister), which is published by the Federal Network Agency (BNetzA), the installed capacity of all PV installations in Germany amounted to more than 68,029 megawatts (MW) at the end of 2022.

The installed solar capacity across 50Hertz’s grid amounted to around 27% of Germany’s total installed solar capacity in 2022.
